Ali has over 23 years experience in the electrical power engineering field: 2 years in the operation and maintenance for the oil industry, 6 years in research and teaching and 15 years in consulting engineering. Carried out detail design of power supply distribution and protection systems for numerous industrial plants and utility systems around the world. Extensive experience in power system design, studies and commissioning. Special emphasis on protection, Power quality, power system grounding, power flow, short circuit, transient stability, transient switching analysis and harmonic studies. Recent work included several co-generation projects added to existing industrial plants including system impact studies such as transient stability, protective relay settings/coordination and load shedding schemes. Prepared detail technical specification for power system apparatus, feasibility studies and layout design for substations up to 220kV. Prepared and conducted several training courses and seminars for clients and professional organizations. Experience includes pulp and paper, oil and gas, co-generation, utility systems and many special application projects. Familiar with ANSI/IEEE and IEC Standards in power system applications.
